What is the working principle of self-locking tuning screw?

The working principle of self-locking tuning screw is mainly self-locking by friction.

Take the self-locking tuning screw commonly used in RF communication products as an example. There are usually two or more sets of staggered threads on its screw. When the screw is screwed into the nut, these staggered threads will rub against the threads of the nut, thus realizing self-locking.

In addition, there are some self-locking tuning screws that cut grooves on the screw and turn the staggered threads at both ends. When the nut is screwed in, the axial force is generated at the groove position to lock the whole screw.

In some special application scenarios, the self-locking tuning screw may also adopt other working principles, such as adding special structures or materials to the screw to achieve better self-locking effect.
